Male balding includes the state of lacking hair where it usually grows, especially on the top of scalp area. The most common form of balding is a very noticeable hair thinning process called male pattern baldness that occurs in adult male people. (the most common cases)

The amount and patterns of baldness may differ in varying degrees; it ranges from male or female pattern, alopecia areata AA, which looks like the loss of some of the hairs from the head, and alopecia universalis, which involves the loss of all hair strands from the scalp areas.

Male balding causes
Many of men or 50-70% to be precise are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness. It is the effect of hormones level on the hair follicles that leads to male baldness.
Testosterone, a hormone that exist in high levels in males after puberty period, is converted to Dihydrotestosterone by an enzyme well known as 5-alpha reductase. At the same time DHT has a negative impact on the follicles. Influencing through hormone receptors on the hair follicle it decrease production of hair and create shorter hair and this process is similar to miniaturisation, sometimes it deactivate hair growth from some follicles . Also this process depletes your reserve of hair over time.

In most cases average hair loss is not associated with disorder, nor is bad diet a common cause. Some form of thyroid disease can lead to hair fall, but thyroid tests on many people who have ordinary hair loss are usually meets the standards.  However many special medications  list "hair thinning" among their potential side effects, drugs are also not always common causes of thinning or lost hair.
One right direction to classify male balding is by whether the loss in local form and patchy, or whether it affects many areas or full scalp.

Balding treatment
To become baldduring long period is a normal part of the male ageing process for most people. No treatment option is wanted or needed by most affected men. For some people, baldness can be distressing factor particularly if it is extreme or occurs in early period of life.  In this case treatment may help.

Medication
Nowadays there are some medication that may help partially - finasteride  and minoxidil and you need to pay the full price for them all your life.

It works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone . The hair follicles are then not affected by influence of this hormone, and can enlarge back to normal thickness.

Little hair growth such as unminiaturisation occurs in about 1 in 4 men who take a finisteride pills every day. In about 2 in 4 men there there is no new hair growth, but most do not have any additional hair fall whilst taking this medication . It has no visible effect in about 10 in 50 men. So, if you deside to take finasteride, you have a various chance that hair will grow back, or at least decrease any further hair fall. Some knowledge about finasteride include the following notes.
•    It takes about 6-8 months for some visible effect to be noticed, and up to 2-4,5 years for activate full hair growth.
•    But the balding growth will returns if treatment procedures is stopped. In case, if you had success you need to carry on treatment all life to maintain the full effect.
•    Side-effects from this medication are uncommon . Most often found is that about 24 in 100 treated men report disorder of their sex drive.
•    It is relatively expensive because costing around £30 per month. Also you need have a private prescription to buy it from a pharmacy store.

Minoxidil lotion mostly is a rub-on treatment that you can always buy at pharmacies even if you don't have a prescription. It not easy to undrstand how it works. But if apply the higher strength 5% solution is more effective than the 2% formula.

There is many discussion as to how effective it is.  Usually about quarter of men who applied minoxidil delay following balding process. About 9 in 100 users have middle stage of new hair growth. There is continued hair fall in about a 30 in 100 users. However, some reports claim much higher results rates. Seems that it is better use to prevent hair loss, but hair regrowth occurs in few users. Some main points about minoxidil include the next notes.

•    It needs to be applied on the scalp areas every day.
•    It usually takes 7-10 months or more for any visible improvement to be noticed.
•    So, this treatment needs to be continued indefinitely. Any new hair that does regrow - falls out 4-6 weeks after treatment is stopped
•    It may work in some women who have male balding pattern
•    It is quite expensive.
•    Side effects are uncommon. For example,  a rash or skin irritation sometimes occurs .

Wigs
A wig is the alternative option for male balding

Hair transplantation surgery
Techniques such as hair transplantation , FUE, and other procedures have been used for a number of years. Results are different and a specialist opinion is needed if surgery is considered. Currently it is very expensive.
